Solicitation Number: 1018243 – Sand

Montgomery County Government through the Office of Procurement has issued an LSBRP solicitation for Sand. The closing date for this solicitation is August 27, 2012, at 11:00 am.

 

The scope of summary is as follows:

The intent of this bid is to establish a requirements contract for supplying Montgomery County with its estimated requirements of sand for use by the Department of Transportation, Division of Highway Services and the Division of Parking Management. Materials furnished under the terms of the contract shall conform to the Maryland State Highway Administration Standard Specification for Construction and Materials, July 2008, and revisions and additions thereto. When sand is being loaded onto County vehicles, it must be free of clots, lumps and other miscellaneous debris. The County’s Vehicle Operator or Contract Administrator designee may refuse to accept contaminated sand. All furnished sand and mortar must be accompanied with a printed computerized weight ticket from a certified scale depicting total weight, tare weight, and actual weight of sand and/or mortar. Sand (Fine Aggregate) – Shall conform to ASTM C-33 specifications and Section 901, Maryland State Highway Administration Standard Specifications and revisions thereto. Loaded on County trucks at Contractor’s location listed on page F-1 for Item 1; or is to be delivered to County location for Item 11. Mortar sand – Shall conform to ASTM M-45 specifications and Section 901, Maryland State Highway Administration Standard Specifications and revisions thereto. Loaded on County trucks at Contractor’s location listed on Page F-1 for Item 2; or, delivered to County locations for Items 3 to 10, and Item 12.

Propel Baltimore Fund

Now Accepting Applications!!!

The Propel Baltimore Fund (the “Fund”) is an angel investment fund that was created through a partnership between the Maryland Technology Development Corporation (TEDCO) and the Abell Foundation to specifically address the critical need for more early stage capital in Baltimore City. The Fund, which has capital commitments of $4.3 million, will invest up to $220,000 in early stage technology companies located in, or moving to, Baltimore City.  The sponsors are confident that providing this early stage capital in the city will encourage more entrepreneurial activity and help to realize Baltimore’s full potential as a destination for small and growing businesses.

Contest for Small & Medium-size Businesses: win 80 Round-Trip Plane Tickets

AMERICAN AIRLINES AND STARTUP AMERICA PARTNERSHIP LAUNCH  2nd ANNUAL “FLIGHTS.CAMERA.ACTION.” CONTEST

Small- and Medium-Size Businesses Can Enter for a Chance to Win 80 Round-Trip Award Tickets* to Elevate the Success of Their Business

American Airlines is teaming up with Startup America Partnership to launch the second annual “Flights.Camera.Action.” contest to support the growth of small- and medium-size businesses. Eligible businesses are encouraged to submit videos explaining how air travel facilitates important connections for their company through in-person meetings, onboard technology and Wi-Fi; as well as connections made through the travel experience. Video entries can be submitted at www.AA.com/FlightsCameraAction.

To enter the contest, which runs from July 17 through Aug. 10, 2012, companies are encouraged to submit a one-minute video explaining the importance of connections made through air travel on the contest website. The first 400 businesses to enter the contest through the website, and in compliance with the Official Rules, will receive 300 American Airlines Business ExtrAA® bonus points, equivalent to an Admirals Club® One Day Pass. Terms and Conditions apply.

The top nine videos from each of the three contest categories will be displayed on the contest site for public voting from Aug. 28 through Sept. 14, 2012. Each of these 27 entrants will receive 10,000 Business ExtrAA pointsfor their business, redeemable for up to five domestic round-trip Plan AAhead® award Economy Class tickets. The three distinct categories for entry include:

  • Startups – companies with two to 500 employees that have been in operation for less than five years.
  • Established businesses – companies with two to 500 employees that have been in operation for five or more years.
  • Nonprofits – 501(c)(3)organizations with two to 500 employees with any operational term.

The top three videos from each category, as selected by public vote – for a total of nine finalists – will earn 20,000 Business ExtrAA points for their business, redeemable for up to 10 domestic round-trip Plan AAhead® award Economy Class tickets, and two complimentary admission tickets to the Inc. 500|5000 Conference & Awards Ceremony in Phoenix, where the Grand Prize Winner will be announced.

The First Place Winners from each category, as selected by a panel of judges – for a total of three winners – will receive an additional 30,000 Business ExtrAA points for a total of 60,000 Business ExtrAA points (the equivalent of 30 domestic round-trip Plan AAhead® award Economy Class tickets). (Washington, D.C.) – The District Department of Transportation’s (DDOT) Office of Civil Rights is hosting the next installment of its small business webinar series entitled, Doing Business with DDOT- How to Prepare a Winning Bid Proposal on Tuesday, July, 31. This training is free of charge and open to all DDOT/WMATA-certified DBE firms as well as other construction-related small business enterprises.

The webinar will be facilitated by Endrea Frazier, Vice President of Legion Design/Campbell & Associates.

This webinar will walk participants step-by-step through the often rigorous process of reading a DDOT solicitation and preparing a competitive construction bid proposal. Additionally, this course will help participants gain a better understanding of the requirements and information requested within DDOT solicitations in order to better position your firm to successfully bid on its construction contract.

2012 with completion in September 2013.
